《英国文学名篇选注》(精装)十六世纪英国文艺复兴起至二十世纪二十年代的现代派文学，名作家五十二人，此外还收了一组英格兰和苏格兰民谣。作品种类包括民谣、诗、诗剧、英文《圣经》、随笔小品、文论、游记、传记、历史、小说、剧本等。加以题解和注释，是英语文学爱好、学习、研究者的选择。这些篇章绝大多数是有定评的名文，在选文比例上对较近的时期略有侧重。在注释方面，对中国学生有困难的地方，注意从详。

3．THE THREE RAVENS《三只乌鸦》
　　这民谣并不长。它通过三只乌鸦所见，描绘一幅图面：一个战死的骑士，躺在地里，旁边有他的狗在看守，上面有他的鹰在飞翔，一个母鹿(喻他的情人)以沉重迂缓的步子走来：　As greatwith young as she might goc来到他的身旁，抬起他的头，吻了他的伤口，把他驮在背上，运到一个坑里把他葬了。全篇以一个祝愿收尾："愿上帝赐予每一个骑士这样的狗，这样的鹰，这样的情人。"
　　这民谣一共十节，每节只有两行，但这两行只是有意义的文字部分。如果我们参看别的本子便会发现：There Were three ravens sat on a tree，
　　Down a down，hay down，hay down,There Were three ravel`is sat on a tree，
　　with a down There Were three ravens sat on a tree，They Were as black as they might be，　With a down，derry,derry，derry，down，down这里原来的两行变成了七行，原来的第一行重复了三次，中间夹了只有音节没有意义的三行。这可能是原来歌唱时的情况，这也是民谣的特点。而我们现在看到的两行不过是从文字的意义考虑加以整理的结果。P20
